SAATHI
(www.saathidubai.org) organized a special event in association with The
Indian Consulate, Dubai to commemorate the “International Day of Persons
with Disabilities” on 2nd December 2012.
During the event, they made every single specially-abled child to put
their handprints on a big canvas.
DPS Sharjah students, Unmesh Datta of IX-M and Akashdeep Deb of X-L,
were assigned as volunteers to assist children to put the paints on
their palms and made them feel comfortable. The look on the faces of the
specially-abled children realizing that they had imprinted their hands
in the canvas of time really made them feel proud about themselves. The
canvas will be displayed at various prominent places in UAE including at
the Indian Consulate, Dubai in the coming weeks for spreading awareness
among the larger section of the community.
It was a matter of great pride for DPS Sharjah when Unmesh and Akashdeep
received the certificate of appreciation from the Honorable Consul
General of India, Dubai, Shri Sanjay Verma and the team of SAATHI as the
representatives of the school during the event.
DPS Sharjah feels vindicated in its resolution to
support for this noble cause.
